a long overdue update

Fri Feb 17, 2006, 9:25 PM
if i was around more, i would've noticed that my name was drawn to recieve a 3 month subscription from the holiday card project!

i can't believe i haven't written a journal or submitted any work for such a long time! with the new year i have become so much busier! it's time for me to start thinking about my SAT and AP tests, classes i want/need to take next year, and colleges i want to apply for. plus, i've just started on the school swim team for my second year- only because i need one more semester of p.e. credits!

this coming week i have winter break, and my mom and i are driving up to oregon to check out a college that i've become really interested in. i'm really excited, and i hope that it's as good as it sounds. although i'm not looking forward to the weather up there!

now, for an art update. i'm working on an assignment right now that is a recreation of a renaissance image, in charcoal. i always thought that i hated renaissance art until i actually spent more time looking at it. this is my first time working with charcoal, and the drawing is fairly large, but i think it's going really well and can't wait to see how it looks finished.

i hope everyone had a nice valentine's day

I had a nice post-valentines day as my squeeze had to work ^^
Good luck with the whole college thing and I hope you can change my opinion with the renaissance art because I'm really not that keen on it either ^^

thanks, the college tour went really well and was very successful

what i'm beginning to like in a lot of the renaissance paintings is the symbolism. i think i was put off by the colors and seemingly dull subjects before. i really like greek mythology, and many of the paintings have greek gods and goddesses, which i never used to pay any attention to. i think it just depends on if you can find something in them that interests you... :)
